Norma J. Shaw, 77 of Terre Haute passed away Monday, December 19, 2022 in Union Hospital.  She was born February 15, 1945 in Vandalia, Illinois.  Norma is survived by her adoring husband of 48 years, Everett Shaw.   As a joyful and spunky matriarch to both Carlock and Shaw families, she was regarded as a best friend, mother figure, and honorary grandma to generations of adoring cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Norma was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Tracey Mercer Cox.  She was also preceded in death by her father, Charles Carlock.  She was blessed to have two mothers, Geneva (England) Carlock who died when Norma was 8 and Laura Belle (Bowman) Carlock who was instrumental in raising and loving Norma through life.  Also preceding her were sisters, Beverly Urry and Cheryl Easley and brothers, David Carlock and Steve Carlock.   Norma was also blessed to have two church families:  Sugar Grove Free Methodist and Union Baptist Church.  Norma was a hair stylist in her younger years.  She then spent her life in service to others including organizing funeral dinners, holding positions at Christian Woman's Club, Meals on Wheels, volunteering in the nurseries, and VBS.  She could even be seen cheering the church softball league.   She was a Prayer Warrior, an avid reader, a world traveler, a stylish and beautiful woman loved by many.   Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in DeBaun Springhill Chapel with funeral services at 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastors, and longtime friends, Monte Vincent and Dennis Moody officiating.  Online condolences may be left at www.debaunfuneralhomes.com.
