Nancy Jane Witt Monts, 93, of West Terre Haute died at 11:45pm on Wednesday October 2, 2013. She was born September 7, 1920 in West Terre Haute to George J. Witt and Marie Walker Witt. She retired as a secretary from the Vigo County School Corporation. Nancy graduated from Valley High School and attended Indiana State University. She was a faithful member of Bethany United Church of Christ for 83 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 50 years Paul L. Monts , a son Michael E. Monts and a sister Barbara Guy. Survivors include a son Paul Witt Monts and wife Lily Shih, a daughter Cynthia Monts Smith, a daughter-in-law Vonda J Monts, six grandchildren; Jennifer Smith Morse, Neilly Smith, Benjamin Monts, Gabriel Monts, Annalee Monts, and Serena Monts, two great-grandchildren; Dominick Smith and Amani Brown, a sister Phyllis Hunter and husband George, many nephews and nieces, friends and neighbors. There is no visitation. Memorial services are scheduled for Sunday October 6, 2013 at 4:00p.m, conducted by Rev. Stephen Moore, at Bethany United Church of Christ in West Terre Haute. Fellowship and a meal will immediately follow at Bethany. Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be directed to Bethany United Church of Christ. The family has entrusted DeBaun Funeral Homes Springhill Chapel, 85 E Springhill Drive, with making arrangements.
