Nancy Rayleen (Strain) Hughes, 72 of Terre Haute, passed away at 11:45 AM on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 in her residence. She was born in Terre Haute on April 19, 1943 to Earl M. Strain and Betty J. Russell Strain. She is survived by her husband Robert E. Hughes, whom she married May 6, 1961. Nancy is also survived by her children; Lori Ann Montgomery (husband James), Sharon Kay Hughes (friend Jim Crowell), and Gary Mitchell Hughes (wife Reva). Also surviving are her sisters; Dorothy Strain (friend Jim Nickels), Brenda Peters, Carolyn Piety (husband Barrett), Cathy Strain, and Cindy Peters (husband Mike). In addition, Nancy is survived by 10 grandchildren; Lacy Montgomery (fiancAC.e Landon Rhoades), Jeremy Montgomery (wife Kristina), Kali Crowell, Braiden Hughes, Tristin Hughes, Caden Hughes, Devin Rivers, Garrett Hughes, Danielle Hughes, and Dacota Hughes, as well as 5 great grandchildren; Gunner Montgomery, Kenzleigh Faith Rhoades, Darin Rhoades, Lilly Rhoades, and Destine Hall. Other survivors include 2 special cousins, Vicki Bonham and Tina Halsted and family, as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at DeBaun Springhill Chapel on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 1:00 PM, with Glen Bussa officiating. Burial will follow in New Harmony Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Saturday from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM in the funeral home.
