Murvin Richard “Dick” Ridge, 79, passed away on Monday, August 10, 2026. He was born on October 1, 1946, in Dugger, Indiana to Murvin Oscar Ridge and Eloise Hatfield Ridge. Dick was one of 14 children. He quit school to help support his family. Dick enjoyed playing horseshoes, cards, board games, and watching his favorite TV shows with the grandkids. He helped to coach his daughter’s soft ball team and participated in mentoring Boy Scout Troop #828. While at Westminster Village he enjoyed calling Bingo. Dick worked for Graham Grain for 23 years and for Speedway 3 years. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Doreen Frakes Ridge, whom he married on Marh 4, 1972; son John Ed Ridge and daughter Debbie Shepard (Adam), grandchildren Brandon Rose (Kyla), Jonathan Rose (Daphine), Michael Roseberry (Abby), Donna Romane, Madison Ridge, Nikki Bumgarner, Tony Shimboff, and Chris Shimboff, 13 great grandchildren with one on the way, siblings Jack Ridge (Melinda), Steven Ridge, Larry Ridge, and William “Little Bill” Shepard, several nieces and nephews, and special friends Steven and Jenifer Gardner. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Tara Shimboff, and nine siblings.

Cremation was entrusted to DeBaun Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
