Morris “Mo” Lee Ricketts, Sr., 94, of Lewis, Indiana passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, April 22, 2026. He was born on July 7, 1931, in Oakland City to Luther B. Ricketts and Enid Goodwin Ricketts. Mo was a truck driver for 70 years. He drove from the time he was 15 up until he retired at age 85. Mo hauled everything under the sun and traveled to all of the lower 48 states. He was a member of the Vigo County Masonic Lodge #29. Mo enjoyed traveling and had driven to Alaska twice in his motorhome. He also loved spending time with family. Most of all he was a proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his children, Larry Ricketts (Ellen), Sharon K. Hammond (John), Sherry M. Leary (William T.), and Morris “Mo” Ricketts, Jr. (Tammy); stepchildren Heather Elliott (Tim), Scott Curry (Ashley), Bob Curry (Sara), and Jake Gilbert (Nicole); many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family. Mo is also survived by his lodge brothers, and his neighbors and close friends Rick and Aldan Copeland. He was preceded in death by his parents, wives Lucy Jane Hummel Ricketts Presswood, Helen May Myers Ricketts, and Candy Sue Cottom Ricketts, son Jerry Dee Ricketts, siblings Luther Beryl Ricketts and Helen Sharpe, and stepsons Ronald E. Carr and Richard P. Carr.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at DeBaun Springhill Chapel from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Online condolences may be made to www.debaunfuneralhomes.com.
