Monte L. Lientz, 84, of Terre Haute, IN passed away Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at 5:10 PM at Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care located at Union Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 20, 1937 to Fredrick Raman Lientz and Wilma Eloise Collins lientz. Monte is survived by his wife of 57 years, Janet and their two daughters Tracy Gidcumb (Roger) of McLeansboro, IL and Michele McDaniel (Kevin)of O'Fallon, IL; four grandchildren Zachary Gidcumb (Sydney Bridwell) of McLeansboro, IL and Zebulan Gidcumb of McLeansboro, IL, Tyler and Brandon McDaniel of O'Fallon, IL; two great-grandchildren Zayden Gidcumb of Norris City, IL and Zaylin Gidcumbof McLeansboro, IL; two sisters Myla White of Rockville, IN and Sue Brough (Darrell) of Sullivan, IN; half-brother John Lientz of Rockville, IN as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Diane Daugherty; half-brother Ramen Lee Lientz; brothers-in-law Leon White, Chuck Booth, and Bob Daugherty. Monte enlisted in the US Navy at 17 and the retired as a 20 year veteran. He was Co-manager of Chet's Market Basket in McLeansboro, IL. He enjoyed helping local farmers, worked for several years on supply boats in the Gulf and worked for the City of McLeansboro. Monte was a member of the Polk Lodge #0137 in McLeansboro. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, and snow birding in Arizona and Florida. There will be no formal service at this time with celebration of life at a later date. Donations can be made in Monte's name to The Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care or to a Veteran's organization of your choosing.
