Melvin Dale
Miller
Melvin Dale Miller, 84, of Terre Haute, went home to be with the Lord on May 28, 2014 in Union Hospital. He was born on July 2, 1929 to Tilman Howard Miller and Leona Grindle Miller in Rosedale, IN. Melvin loved and served in the United States Army in the Korean War. He is a lifetime member of the VFW #972 and American Legion #290. In High School he played for the Rosedale Hot Shots. Melvin retired from General Housewares after working there for over 40 years. He was an assistant scoutmaster for Troop 434 for the Boy Scouts of America and was in the Order of the Arrow. He coached The Little League Ball Club, and was an Associate member of Hello Dollers Club. He attended and was a member of Forest Park Baptist Church. He collected toy cars, trucks, and airplanes. He shared this hobby with his grandsons and great grandchildren. Melvin is survived by his widow Hazel Miller; son Mark D. Miller; daughter Marla Wyant and her husband Mike; step daughters Jeanette Melis of Louisville, KY and M.J. Stewart of Terre Haute; grandsons James Melis of Terre Haute, Jeremy Melis and his wife Stacey of Kennesaw Georgia, Jason Melis and his wife Vickie of Indianapolis, Joseph Scott Meneely of Ft. Worth, TX, Christopher Wyant of Arlington, TX; brother-in-law, Ervin Gray of Hobart, IN; sister-in-law, Gale Gray of Terre Haute; honorary grandsons Brandon Miller Robbie Haworth and his wife Rachel; honorary granddaughter Krissy Koziatek and Heather Fagg; 6 great grandchildren Devin Melis, Megan Melis, Myah Melis, Max Melis, Aubrielle Melis, Elliana Melis, and an expected great grandchild in October; and special family Randy and Lorretta Fagg, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Delilah Miller, Susie Miller, Nona Spurr, Sadie Peoples, Lucille Wallace, Ruby Nevins, Mary White; brothers Howard "Hod" Miller, and Austus "Austie" Miller. Visitation will be at DeBaun Funeral Home, Wabash Avenue Chapel, 2425 Wabash Ave. Thursday June 5, 2014 from 12:00p.m. until 2:00 p.m. with funeral services at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Gene Jeffers officiating. Burial will be in Highland Lawn Cemetery.
