Mechelle Denise Bowen, 59, of Terre Haute, Indiana passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 2, 2026.

Mechelle was born on August 8, 1966 in Phoenix Arizona to Jan and Jim Evinger, the oldest of three girls, named after the 1965 Beatle’s song “Michelle”. She moved from Arizona to Indiana to be closer to family that had relocated. She loved fishing, mushroom hunting, and spending time with her dogs Millie and later Max.

She is survived by her beloved partner of the past five years Bill Higgins; her parents Jan Evinger (Venable) and Jim Evinger; sisters Carrie Regynski (Richard) and Jamie Evinger (Stephan); brother JR (Chelsea); children CJ Coleman (Crystal), Rusty Bowen, Mistie Bowen (Brent); grandchildren Nevaeh (Jordan), Gavyn, Harper, Jeremiah, Quincy, and Gage; and a large extended family.

She is preceded in death by her beloved dog Millie.

Mechelle’s care has been entrusted to DeBaun Funeral Home in Terre Haute, Indiana.
