Mary Jo Melvin, 82, of Terre Haute passed away Thursday, December 22, 2016 in Terre Haute Regional Hospital. Mary Jo was born July 19, 1934 in Terre Haute to Wayne Hoopingarner and Chleada Kendred Hoopingarner Ellinger. She was a secretary for Eastern Express Trucking and a member of O.E.S. Chapter 163 of Prairieton. Mary Jo was an avid cat lover, loved playing cards and BINGO and dearly loved her grandchildren. Mary Jo was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband of fifty years, Donald James Melvin; and her sister, Chleada "Peanuts" Pearson. She is survived by her son, Joseph Melvin and his wife, Debbie; her daughter Jenean Ann Melvin; her grandchildren, Andy Melvin and his wife, Laura and Amanda Joyce and her husband, Kenny. She is also survived by a special niece, Diana Bailey and many other nieces and nephews. Private services were held on Monday, December 26, 2016. Burial was in Durham Cemetery. DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 East Springhill Drive, Terre Haute, Indiana 47802 was entrusted with care and arrangements.
