Obituary

It is hard to try and sum up the life of someone 87 years old. As we try, we ask you to please think of your own memories of her.

Pat Lasseter, loving known by her family and dear friends as Macha, fell asleep in death peacefully on December 12, 2022 with loved ones by her side. She always liked doing things her own way, even her death was out of the blue for us. That's Macha for you keeping you on your toes.

She was born August 3, 1935 and raised by her loving parents Ernie and Gay Duby. She had a loving sister Linda whom she adored. Her sister lives in northern Indiana with her husband Andrew and her family. Macha loved to go visit them to go shopping and camping.

Let's go back in time for a moment, Pat moved to Missouri when she was in her late teens and that is where she meet the love of her life, David. After a whirlwind courtship they married on March 12, 1955. They shared a desire to worship God. So, they began to study the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses. Pat and her husband David dedicated themselves to serve Jehovah God. They were baptized together on September 21, 1963 in a horse trough in Reform Alabama. They liked to say that's where they were reformed.

In time she and David started their family with their firstborn, her beloved son, Steven Lasseter, on January 1, 1959. He blessed them with his wife Sheryll and their children, Jared Lasseter and Tabitha Lasseter-Shirey. Tabitha is married to Kris Shirey. Together they are raising 3 of the 9 great-grandchildren Gabrielle, Jackson, and Kyra.

Then on March 27, 1962 they completed their family when they welcomed their beloved daughter, Gwenn Scarbrough. She brought joy to their lives when she married Jim and raised 6 children together. Dusty is the one whom we can all thank for her special name, Macha. He married Rose and has two daughters Syra and Phoebe. Daisha married Rico Whitehead and are raising their daughter Aurora. Then came Josiah who married Liana and is living in Hawaii raising their daughter Milla. Breanna married Levi James and has two boys to raise Coh'n and Fyre. Whitney married Jon Earles. And at last came little Torrey who married Zack Eirhart.

Pat and her "honey" strived to serve God whole-heartedly and train their children and grand-children to do the same. No greater joy did she have then to hear about her family serving Jehovah and putting him first.

Sadly, her "honey" died just shy of 50 years of marriage together. She continued to live 18 years without the love of her life. It truly broke her heart when he died. She always held onto the promises from God that she would see him again in perfect health and youthfulness!

No matter who you are if you met Pat Lasseter, our beloved Macha, you knew she loved her God, her family, and friends. We all know she had her flaws as we all do. We long for the day when we will see her again just as God saw her, perfect in health, mind and body. We long to hear her stories again as to how she was courted by her love David our sweet, Pa; how she made rugs with Pa, how they loved arts and crafts, she was so talented she could have made a great interior designer. We long to hear her once again, talk about her desire to serve Jehovah and how happy he made her, even when she suffered loss in her life. She truly loved her family. Each one of us had a unique relationship with her. We long to see her again when she will no longer be affected by illness.

As we close this, we ask you to remember one thing about our sweet loving Pat or as some called her, Macha. She always talked about Jehovah even after she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. As she began to forget people, words, and things she never forgot her God Jehovah. She was a faithful member of the congregation at Terre Haute South Kingdom Hall right up to the day she died. What fine example she was for us all to grow our love for Jehovah God. This way we can see her again in the promised new world under peaceful conditions while Christ rules as King. We long for the day when God will fulfill his promise he made. He longs for the day when He will call Pat and then she will answer by standing up from the grave and live forever.  Services for Pat will be held at Jehovah's Witness Hall, 3214 Hulman Street in Terre Haute, on Saturday, December 17 at 4 PM.

Job 14:14,15

If a man dies, can he live again? I will wait all the days of my compulsory service Until my relief comes. You will call, and I will answer you. You will long for the work of your hands.
