Mary-Ellen Brown was born on November 29, 1908 in Louisiana to John and Mattie Edwards. She attended Washington Grade school, Wiley High school, and Indiana State Teacher College. She married Louis Brown and to that union gave birth to three sons (Louis Edward Brown, Paul Lawrence Brown, and James Arthur Brown), and two daughters (Marian K. Brown, Mary Ellen Brown). She worked within the school system for 20 years and was known for being "Grandma Mary". She attended Saulters AME church until her health failed, and she was a faithful member. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters (Maude Eaton and Della Caldwell), two daughters, a son (Paul Brown), and grandsons (Dewey Brown and Jaimee Brown "Woobini"), a granddaughter (Linda Brown). Mary departed this life on August 07, 2015 to be with the Lord. She leaves to mourn two sons Louis (Lillian) and James (Hadassiah), 6 daughters, 6 grandsons,17 great- grandchildren and host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Thursday August 13, 2015 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM in DeBaun Funeral Home, Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Dr. with funeral services on Friday August 14, 2015 at 10:00 am in the funeral home with Pastor Quentin Isabel officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery.
