January 4, 1925 – May 14, 2020
Mary Alice Bowman (Cox) died in the home of her daughter Julie Keegan, in Terre Haute, Indiana on May 14, 2020.
She was born on January 4, 1925 to Elsie and Alonzo Cox, into a family of nine. Mary graduated from Lincoln High School, Vincennes, Indiana, in 1944. She married Frank Bowman on April 10, 1949. Frank and Mary were married for 70 years. They resided on Highway 41 South in Vincennes, before moving to Ft. Myers, FL. Mary was an avid bridge player, playing both table and duplicate bridge. She taught bridge in Vincennes, at her home, and at Vincennes University. Her students number in the hundreds. One of her greatest pleasures in life, was meeting former students and sharing their love for bridge. Mary also enjoyed finding furniture treasures, refinishing them and having them upholstered. She had many part time jobs, in her life, her most memorable position was working for the Southgate Veterinary Clinic.
Mary was a loving mother to children, Jerry, Julie and Jeff. We can say with certainty that her children were the center of her life. She enjoyed hosting family reunions, at her home on Highway 41, where all of the Cox family assembled. Those were some of her happiest memories.
