Mary Lou Collins, 86, of Terre Haute passed away Saturday, July 2, 2022. She was born March 5, 1936 in West Terre Haute to Thomas Hill and Nettie Cravens All. Mary Lou was a longtime member of the First Methodist Church. She worked for many years as a custodian for the Vigo County School Corporation. Mary Lou enjoyed working puzzles, caring for her beloved dogs and other animals, but most of all spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a loving, caring, and hardworking mother. The family always had a big vegetable garden they worked on together. Mary Lou was known for her popcorn balls. She would make hundreds for holidays, including Halloween and pass them out to her co-workers, family and children that trick-or-treated. People still talk about them, even today. Mary Lou was a kind soul and never knew a stranger. She will be missed by so many.
She is survived by her seven children, Daniel Collins (Marty), Randall Collins, Kenneth Collins, Perry Collins, Steven Collins, Kelly Cottom, and Troy Collins; several grandchildren and great grandchildren, sister Sharon Reece, brother Bill All and several nieces and nephews. Mary Lou is preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband Frederick Eugene Collins who passed away in 1989, sister Kay Switzer, brothers Jerry Hill and Tom Benefield.
Private graveside services will be held. Arrangements were entrusted to DeBaun Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in honor of Mary Lou to the Terre Haute Humane Society. Online condolences may be made to www.debaunfuneralhomes.com.
