Martha "Ernesteen" Lee, 93, of Terre Haute, passed away at 1:31 PM on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 in Terre Haute Regional Hospital. She was born in Patricksburg, IN on March 4, 1920 to Samuel Collie Bryant and Goldie Shear Bryant. She is survived by her daughter Mary Heller, grandchildren Tammy Terry & husband Greg, Terry Johnson & wife Debi, Toni Johnson, and a very special friend who was like another granddaughter to her, Beth Truax. She is also survived by three great grandchildren, Erin Terry, Jennifer Higgs & husband Kevin, and Christina Johnson, as well as five great great grandchildren. Ernesteen is also survived by her brother, Walter Wayne Bryant, and two sisters, Altha Mitchel and June Pittsenbarger. Other survivors include a special sister-in-law, Mildred Johnson, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Franklin Lee, a daughter, Patricia Steigerwald, and one brother, Malcolm Bryant. Ernesteen was an avid gardener and loved her flowers, enjoyed knitting and crocheting, as well as being an avid supporter of the Indiana State Sycamores. Funeral services will be held in DeBaun Springhill Chapel on Monday, April 8, 2013 at 1:00 PM, with Pastor Rick Swan officiating. Burial will follow in New Harmony Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, April 7, 2013 from 2:00 – 6:00 PM in DeBaun Springhill Chapel. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Terre Haute Humane Society, in her memory.
