Maristella "Maris" Torres Hastings, 39, of Naperville, IL passed away May 8, 2021. She was born May 1, 1982 in Cebu, Philippines. She is survived by her children Nathaniel and Kiana. She is also survived by her Filipino family, her parents Ruben Torres and Nicanora (née Tamarra) Torres; her sisters Rubelyn Torres Inso, Ronalisa Torres, Geralyn Torres Cubar and her husband Erwin Cubar, Miraluna Torres and Jennifer Torres. Her nephews Johric Inso, Junny Vic Inso, John Heinge Inso, Gerwin Eli Cubar and Gian Eliezer Cubar. She is also survived by her American family - mother-in-law, Linda (Butch) Hargis, father-in-law  Stephen (Anna) Hastings, sisters-in-law Alicia (Mike) McKinney, Kristin Garrison, and Stephanie Hastings,  brother-in-law James Hastings;  nephews Noah Zurcher, Grayson McKinney; and Gavin Garrison, and niece Henrietta Garrison as well as a host of Filipino and American aunts, uncles and cousins.

Maris now joins her husband who preceded her in death, Stephen Hastings II. She was also preceded in death by her two brothers, Eric Torres and Arnel Torres and her sister Teofista Torres. Maris was the fourth among seven sisters and two brothers. Maris was a quality control inspector in the Philippines and a homemaker in America.  She loved to travel with family.  Her kids were her passion and whole life. She was a very loving and selfless daughter, sister, and mother. Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. (ET) at DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 East Springhill Drive, Terre Haute, IN 47802. The services will be following visitation at 2:30 p.m. (ET) at St. Patrick Catholic Church at 1807 Poplar Street, Terre Haute, IN 47803. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery near Riley, IN following services.
