Marilyn Sue Cunningham, 81, passed away with family by her side on July 8, 2025. She was born on October 17, 1943 in Vincennes to Charles "Doc" Yochum and Matilda (Mandabach) Yochum. Marilyn faithfully served as Executive Assistant to the President at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College, working under four different presidents throughout her distinguished career. Marilyn and her late husband, Richard, enjoyed attending Indiana State Athletics. The most important thing to her was her family. She loved to plan big family beach vacations, go to the casino with her sister-in-law Helen Cunningham, host family gatherings, and watch Kody drag race.
She is survived by her daughter Michelle Cunningham (Steve Kidwell) and Denise Joslin (Jeff), grandson Kody Frederick (Mazie Creasey), great-grandchildren Kayson Frederick and Maylynn Frederick, and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Richard Cunningham, son Michael Cunningham, both parents, and siblings Donnie Yochum, Rita Daugherity, and Janice Adams.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care for the excellent care they provided.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025 from 10 am to 1 pm at The Church of Immaculate Conception (located at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods) with a funeral service to follow at 1 pm. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care.
