Marian E. Richardson, age 93, died Friday, September 25, at Providence Health Care, St. Mary of the Woods, Indiana. She was born to William and Ruby (Stout) Rogers on January 8, 1922, in Clayton, Indiana. She lived nearly her entire life in Clayton and Plainfield, Indiana, and came to reside with the Sisters of Providence in their health care community in 2013. Marian was preceded in death by her two sons, Donn (1948) and Alan (2009). Also preceding her in death were her parents, four brothers and one sister. She is survived by her daughter Karen Sagraves of Terre Haute, Indiana, and her granddaughter Jenna Sagraves of Atlanta, Georgia. She is survived as well by her daughter-in-law Tammy Richardson, granddaughters Alicia Monahan (Kevin) and Jeannie Carr (Jimmy), and great granddaughters Brianna, Chloe, and Elle Monahan. She is also survived by granddaughters Juli Woodrum and Jacki Partlow. Marian graduated from Clayton High School and attended Central Normal College in Danville, Indiana. She retired at age 70 from her position as office manager for Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel, Indiana. She was a member of Plainfield United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir and, among other ministries, lovingly cross-stitched personalized towels for infant baptisms. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star. She was a great cook and a gifted seamstress. She was outspoken, stubborn, and opinionated. She was wise, grace-filled, and generous. And she loved her family to the moon and back. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, October 6, at 11:00 a.m. in the Clayton Cemetery.
