Margaret Kay O'Dell, a long-time Terre Haute community member, passed away on Aug. 28 surrounded by loved ones at her home.

Kay was born in Crawfordsville, Ind., and is preceded in death by her loving parents Harold and Kathryn Hutson and her sister Ann Chilton. Kay is survived by her life partner, Joe Houghtelin, her children Kathy, Matt, Mindy and Scott, six grandchildren, one great grandchild, and two sisters, Jane Brown and Bertha Hastings of Crawfordsville.

Kay had a flair for interior design and was an avid reader. She loved to garden, travel and antique shop with Joe. Kay treasured family time and always set an elegant table bringing everyone together for the holidays. She was a generous and kind person who will be missed by so many.

Kay spent most of her adult life selling real estate in Terre Haute. She began her career as a broker at Miller-Sargent-Miller and spent the more than 15 years of her career at ReMax.

Memorial services will be held at DeBaun Funeral Home on Sept. 7 from 4-7 p.m.
