Marcella Rose Jewell, 86, of Terre Haute passed away on Monday, August 17, 2026. She was born on May 10, 1940, in West Terre Haute to Arthur Phelps and Leona Johnson Phelps. She was one of nine children. Marcella was a 1958 graduate of Concannon High School where she was Homecoming Queen. She married the love of her life, Larry Jewell, December 27, 1957. They shared nearly 55 years of marriage. Marcella was a realtor with Coldwell Banker-Larry Helman’s office for 35 years. Throughout her life she also held various other jobs including being the owner of Shades of White Bridal Store, Avon and Mary Kay consultant, and she was a secretary for the school corporation at Ben Franklin Elementary. She and Larry enjoyed traveling to California to visit family. They were also avid dancers. Marcella was a member of the Daughters of the Nile and the Women’s Club where she especially enjoyed working on the Shoe Bus. She loved to play cards with the family. In her later years, she enjoyed attending the Indiana State University Basketball games. Marcella was a wonderful mother, attending sporting events and various programs throughout the lives of her children. She loved being a grandmother and great-grandmother. The grandchildren brought her so much joy. Marcella will be sadly missed by her beloved family.

She is survived by her children Kevin Jewell (Renee), Jeff Jewell, and Amy Roscoe (Ryan), grandchildren Tiffany Johnson, Brianna Newhart, Austin Jewell, Andrew Jewell, Rylee Roscoe, and Raegan Roscoe; great grandchildren Edison Johnson, Wright Johnson, Galileo Johnson, Emerson Jewell, Blaire Jewell, and Cora Jewell; siblings Ernie Phelps (Linda), Steve Phelps (Debbie), and Shirley Goodman, as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family. Marcella was preceded in death by her parents, husband Larry Jewell, siblings Leora Sumner, Opal John, Carolyn Fields, Bob Phelps, and John Phelps.

Visitation will be held Friday, August 21, 2026, at DeBaun Springhill Chapel from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Service will begin at the funeral home at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Mark Grayless officiating.
