Lois M. (Harris) Whitkanack, 79, of Southern Vigo County passed away on April 3, 2025, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loved ones.  She was born on May 20, 1945, in Fairbanks, Indiana to Paul and Margaret (Holecek) Harris.

She married Walter D. Whitkanack in June of 1964. Together they had three children. Lois enjoyed spending time with her family, going to the beach, nights that were spent at the racetrack and watching the cardinal birds outside her window.

She is survived by her daughter Deanne Hayhurst (Harvey), son Troy Whitkanack (Linda), brother Marvin Harris, sister Carol "Jeanie" Jenkins, grandchildren Jeremy Whitkanack (Maranda), Tasha Robbins (Ryan), Hannah Greenwell (Trent), Lilly Whitkanack, and Jimmy Seaton (Brittaney); great grandchildren Easton, Oakley, Bristol, Hadlee, and Brooklyn. Lois was preceded in death by her husband Walter D. Whitkanack, son Gary Lee Whitkanack, both parents, sisters Rosemary Fuson, Marjorie Thomas, and Cecelia Barbee.

Visitation will be held Saturday, April 12, 2025 at DeBaun Springhill Chapel from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Service will begin at the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Don Ransford officiating. Burial will follow at Watson Cemetery.
