Levon E. Garrison, 89, of Terre Haute passed away Monday July 4, 2016 in Springhill Village in Terre Haute. She was born August 5, 1926 in Duluth, MN to Neil Garrison and Lila (Wilcox) Garrison. Levon was a retired Professor of Physical Education at Indiana State University. She received her B.S in Mathematics from Iowa State University, an M.A. in Physical Education from the University of Iowa, and her Doctorate from Florida State University. She taught secondary math and physical education in California and physical education at Wayne State College (Nebraska), University of Oklahoma and Indiana State University. She is survived by three nephews, Paul G. Bruns, Mark Whaley (Bev), and Gary Whaley; one niece, Tamara Bruns; a great niece, Robyn Davidson (David) and three great nephews, Paul R. Bruns (Jamie), Ryan Whaley (Katherine), and Dane Whaley (Sara) and good friends, Dan and Pam Mesaeh. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Arleen Randall (Ray) and Marna Whaley (James) and one niece, Jana Furton. Levon was a charter member of the Inter Agency HPER Council and was inducted into the Indiana State University Athletic Hall of Fame. Throughout her life, Levon traveled the world and enjoyed bowling, golf and bridge. As per her request no services are scheduled and cremation has been selected. DeBaun Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
