Leone "Nonie"
Connolly
February 25, 1939 – November 19, 2020
Leone (Nonie) Connolly, 91, passed away the morning of November 19, 2020 in Terre Haute, Indiana. She was born February 25, 1929 in Pittsburgh, PA. Nonie was married to Wally Connolly who passed too, in November, 25 years ago. She was the daughter of Herbert and Lillian Staab; stepfather Edwin Staab. Nonie is survived by sister, Mary Kay Schmidt, and brother, Tony Staab. Also sister to Pete Staab (deceased), sister-in-law to Jack Schmidt (deceased). Survived by sisters-in-law Bonnie Staab and Janet Staab. Sister-in-law to Melvin and Betty Conley; Earl and Eleanor Connolly; LaVerne and John Yorkgitis, Audrey and Bud Vater, and Bobby Connolly; cherished nieces and nephews. Mom to Michael and Linda Connolly, Patrick Connolly, Renie and Jack Reilly. Grandmother to Nicole and Sean, Renee, Michael and Trisha, Chelsea and Dan. GG to her 7 great-grandchildren: Tyler, Ayden, Alyssa, Ben, Danny, Jack and Cate. Nonie lived most of her life in Pittsburgh, before moving to Terre Haute, Indiana. She had a long running interest in politics and poetry, Sinatra, and another cup of coffee. She kept her scissors handy as the family barber. She enjoyed gathering with friends through the years, including the "Club Girls" from high school. In earlier years she worked in the first-floor book department of Kaufmann's in downtown Pittsburgh and remained friends with several there. She had a passion for living, always ready for adventure, even if it was a trip to the local Starbucks. She was fond of seeing her great-grandchildren at play and their accomplishments. She has been remembered as a sweet, funny, and loving lady who saw the sunny side of life and rolled with the punches. Nonie will be buried in her hometown of Pittsburgh with her beloved, Wally, where he waits on the hillside for his date to watch the planes that fly low over their heads. A Memorial Service will be held in Pittsburgh, PA at a further date. In lieu of flowers, perhaps we spread kindness and joy, share laughter and tender hearts in remembering the world as Nonie once loved it. DeBaun Funeral Home was entrusted with cremation.
