Obituary

Lavedia Mae Easton Stout,81, of Terre Haute, IN was called home to Lord on Sunday, October 25, 2015 under the care of Cobblestone Crossings health Campus and Southern Care Hospice. She was the third child of J. Everett and Minnie (Chandler) Easton, born October 11, 1934 on her family's homestead, Mockingbird Hill, in Lawrence County, Indiana. Growing up on a working farm during the depression, she knew the value of hard work. Lavedia graduated as valediction of the class of 1952 at Heltonville School in Heltonville, Indiana before furthering her education at Indiana State Teacher's College in Terre Haute where she obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Business and Physical Education, a BS in Elementary Education and later completed her Master's Degree in Library Science. She began writing letters to her future husband, Raymond Frederick Stout, during his four year enlistment in the U.S. Air Force and they were married on December 26, 1954. She taught Business and Physical Education at Blackhawk School in Vigo County, IN from 1956-58, followed by several years of Motherhood and child rearing. She substitute taught for Vigo County School Corporation during the 1970's and retired from Cunningham Memorial Library (1978-1995). She enjoyed gardening and flowers, camping, family fellowship, returning to her family farm, feeding hummingbirds, reading, collecting angels, Volkswagens and miniatures, crocheting and had a love for cats, (especially mean Calicos). She was a member of Blackhawk Community Church and a charter member of the International Skamper Camping Club for the past 43 years. She is survived by her husband, Raymond Fred Stout; four children, Veta (Don) Goucher of Terre Haute, Bradley (Jenell) Stout of Ellettsville, Vicki (Brent Tomey)Wildman of Norman, Valeri (Kevin) Sweeney of Dayton, OH; seven Grandchildren, Eric (Diana) Goucher, Mindy (Jay) Burgo-Ramirez, Michael Stout, Jackie (JD) O'Mullane, Ben (Natalie) Sweeney, Tiffany (James) Ankeney, Dannielle Sweeney; 10 Great Grandchildren, Taylor Montgomery, Rory Goucher, Trey Burgo-Ramirez, Hayley Stout, Maverick O'Mullane, Alexander Sweeney, Gabriel Sweeney, Layla Sweeney, Bria Ankeney & Lily Ankeney. She was preceeded in death by her parents, brothers, Donald & David Easton, sisters, Patricia Hunter, Shirley Norman and Janet Chenoweth, Father and Mother-in-law, Clifford and Rachel Stout and Sister-in-Law Naomi England Burgess. Lavedia was a second mother to many, an avid baker of Amish Friendship Bread, a "worker bee", a friend to count on, and a cancer survivor… but she was unable to conquer ALS. The family would like to thank those special caregivers who provided loving care over the past several months. The family will receive visitors at the Springhill Chapel of DeBaun Funeral Home in Terre Haute on Thursday October 29, 2015 from 4:00 until 8:00 pm and 1 hour prior to the service on Friday. Funeral Services will be Friday October 30, 2015 at 11:00 am with Pastor Jeff Lee officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, we request contributions be made to one of Lavedia's favorite charities: Crisis Pregnancy Center of Wabash Valley, Veterans Helping Indiana Veterans, Wabash Valley Youth for Christ, or Susan G. Komen for Life
