Larry "Richard" Lawson

June 19, 1950-March 1, 2017

Larry "Richard" Lawson, 66, passed away Monday, March 1, 2017 after a courageous 17 year battle with Spinocerebellar Ataxia ( a genetic and destructive disease).

He was born in Lone Mountain, Tennessee June 19, 1950 to Rev. John Lawson and Lillian Fay Chappell Lawson.

He graduated in 1970 from Honey Creek High School and immediately joined the Navy. He married Alejandra Racaza, the mother of his children, in 1971. He returned to Terre Haute and worked for General Housewares, and attended Northside Wesleyan Church.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father and infant son and stepmother, Virginia Hollen Lawson Mills.

He is survived by his daughters, Roxanne Lopes, Jennifer Rion, and four grandchildren, all of California; sisters, Linda (Steve) Young of Terre Haute, Mary (Roy) Stroud of West Lebanon, Indiana, Kathy (Mike) Weinert of California; a brother, John F. Lawson, Jr. of Terre Haute; his friend, Louann Dawson of Rockville; and several nieces and nephews.
