On Monday, July 27, 2026, Lana Gail Chalfant, passed away at the age of 68, at the Gibson Family Hospice Center surrounded by family.
She was born in Terre Haute, IN to Arthur Sandberg and Iva (Fleschner) Sandberg. She graduated from Terre Haute South Vigo High School in 1976. She worked at Union Hospital for 30 years, starting in Radiology and later at Clara Fairbanks Center for Women, where she made many life-long friends.
Growing up, she attended Greenwood Street Wesleyan Church and later Faith Wesleyan. As her health declined, she enjoyed watching services online. When young, she loved spending time with cousins and friends camping, boating, and water skiing at Sullivan Lake. She always enjoyed taking family vacations, painting, and crafting. Once her grandkids came along, they became her pride and joy.
Lana was a funny and warm-hearted soul who was selfless; she always put others before herself and her children meant the world to her. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband Carey Chalfant, son Jason Campbell and partner Carrie Higgins, daughter Angie (Mike) Maehler, stepsons Josh, Korey (Angel Wells), and Tate Chalfant (Tabitha), granddaughters Lani Campbell and Amaris Maehler, grandsons Aiden Maehler (Madison Steiner) and Gabriel Campbell. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Brenda and Peggy Sandberg, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visitation will be Friday, July 31, 2026 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at DeBaun (Springhill) with funeral services beginning at 3:00 pm with Pastor Ray Austin and Reverend Mark Fleschner officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Online condolences may be left at www.debaunfuneralhomes.com
