Kiva Sue
(Anderson) Jones
September 17, 1958 – July 19, 2024
Professional career wife, exemplary mother and selfless individual, Kiva Sue Jones (65), started her new adventure July 19th, 2024. Her calling, although not voluntary, will be her greatest endeavor to date. Our suspicion is she's God's new chef.
Kiva was the first born of James Frank Anderson and Roberta Anderson (Teague) of Owensboro, Kentucky, and big sister to Kevin Anderson, Kristi Anderson, and Karissa Holmes. Having met the love of her life, Reuben T. Jones (Terre Haute, Indiana) at age 14, she had no trouble following her heart and, in turn, carrying it on her sleeve. Their eternal romance ignited and burned for 51 years and created a marriage of 48 years. Their union resulted in 2 children: Brandy (Savannah) Kruckenberg and Jeremy Jones (Caren), grandchildren: Amber and Naythan McClure (William McClure), Danika Eagle (Nick Eagle), and bonus grandchild, Henry. Kiva was a lifetime secretary, professional life organizer, skillful arguer, and devoted lover of Reuben.
Although many knew her as the traditional homemaker, Kiva started her careers early in the law firm and banking fields. However, her passion to make the best tasting food you ever put in your mouth was her love language. This led her to her most rewarding jobs as the cook at both the Washington House and Thirteenth Step House in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She made sure that everyone was fed and even took care of the late night workers with warm plates when they got off work. She furthered her culinary trail by being able to cook for native Jamaican families (which is kind of unheard of), where the consensus was "Whitey can cook!" Kiva broke the ice on numerous occasions with her edible masterpieces. She never met a stranger because of it.
She is preceded in death by her brother, Kevin Anderson, grandparents, Carl "Big Dog" Anderson, Lela Mae Anderson, Robert Teague, and Mary Teague.
Let's celebrate Kiva! Please join us Sunday, August 4th from noon to 4pm:
