Kathryn Ellen Curtis, 97, of Terre Haute passed away on September 16, 2014. She was born on September 24, 1916 in Greene County, IN to Mitchell Mathot and Marie (Vink) Mathot. She was married to Ralph E. Curtis for 40 years. Kathryn was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church and Daughters of Foreign Wars. She worked at St. Anthony Hospital and Terre Haute Regional, for over 25 years, as a Pediatric Nurses Aid. Kathryn was known by Nan by everyone she loved. She enjoyed traveling. She was able to visit Hawaii and the Holy Lands. Kathryn liked to be outside in her yard and in her flowers. She enjoyed sitting on her patio visiting with loved ones and friends. Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband Ralph E. Curtis; her parents; son Ralph M. Curtis Sr.; daughter Barbara Shattuck, and son-in-law Homer Shattuck; granddaughter Kathie (Shattuck) Swain; grandson Brian Power; great- great grandsons Andy Power, Marcus Power, and Austin McFerren; and great -great granddaughters Jessica Power and Ivy Clifton. She is survived by her daughters Peg Power , her husband Carl of Gulf Shores, AL, Brenda Bourne and her husband Virgil of Gladstone, MO; daughter-in-law Charlotte Curtis; grandson-in-law Jack Swain; grandchildren Brad (Terri) Power, Doug (Kathy) Power, Steve (Beth) Power, Beth (Michael) Wagner, Sarah (Andrew) Schneider, Ralph Curtis Jr., John (Linda) Curtis, James Curtis, Mike (Debbie) Shattuck, Mitch (Cheryl) Shattuck, Chris (Toni) Shattuck, Carla (Brian) Schoemaker, and Matt (Julie) Shattuck; 14 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and 19 great- great grandchildren. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, September 20, 2014 at 1:00p.m. in DeBaun Funeral Homes Springhill Chapel, 85 E Springhill Drive. Burial will be in Dugger Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from noon until 1:00p.m. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Lung Association.
