Karen S. Akers, 72, of Terre Haute passed at her residence March 26, 2023 at 7:45 a.m.  she was born November 26, 1950 to Paul and Marie (Boerema) Kaspari, who have preceded her in death.  She was also preceded in death by her husband Jerry L. Akers in 2002.  Karen retired from Honey Creek Middle School as the cafeteria manager.  She was an artist and painter and also enjoyed woodworking, tending to her flowers and other outdoor work , as well as playing games of various varieties with friends and family.  She is survived by her children David Little of Avon, Kelly Brown and husband Troy of Bloomington and a step-son Jerry L. Akers, Jr and his wife Amy, "Amer".   She also has a sister Margaret Barnett and husband Jerry and a brother Paul Kaspari and his wife Terie.  Her grandchildren are Alec Little, Hillary Burke, Parker Akers, and Kate Akers.  Visitation will be at DeBaun Springhill Chapel on Friday, March 31, 2023 from 2-6 p.m.  Cremation will then follow.  For those who choose, memorial contributions can be made to the Terre Haute Humane Shelter.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.  Online condolences can be offered at www.debaunfuneralhomes.com
