Karen Sue Mills Jones, 76, of Dugger passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at her home. She was born in Sullivan County on April 10, 1949, to Charles Mills and Gertrude Raley Mills. Karen worked for Sullivan County Park and Lake for over 20 years, retiring in 2017. She was a very dedicated employee and loved working there. Karen enjoyed fishing and camping. She could catch a fish with no bait. She loved shopping, going to yard sales and thrifting, and just dilly dallying with her granddaughter. Karen would always tell her kids and grandkids "I love you with my big fat heart and my pea pickin' thumpin' gizzard", which always gave them a laugh. She will be missed by so many.

Karen is survived by her daughter Vicki Norton McBride, grandchildren Kylee McKinley (Ryan), Luke Robbins DeLeo (CJ), Evan Norton (Kristina), Joseph McBride II (Cierra), Nickolas McBride (Maddy), Colton Norton, Piper Norton, and McKenzie Norton; great-grandchildren Brantley McKinley, Brinley McKinley, Aliyeah Phillips, Anthony, Charlotte Norton, Bane McKinley, Ariella McBride and Joseph McBride III; a few special friends (they know who they are), as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband of just over 20 years, Joseph Jones who passed away on May 30, 2011; children Angela Dawn Norton Gallagher, Charles Jeffrey Norton, grandsons Bradley Phillips, Jr. and Michael Phillips, and siblings Gloria Lumsdun, Raymond Woodard, and Roger Mills.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026, at DeBaun Springhill Chapel from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Service will begin at the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Nyes Chapel Cemetery. Online condolences may be made to www.debaunfuneralhomes.com.
