Joyce Elaine Phelps, 80, went home to be with the Lord on January 1st 2018.  She was born on April 20, 1937 to William Cowden and Sarah Myers Cowden in Terre Haute. Joyce loved to read and always enjoyed going to church.  She is preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Fenton Phelps, who passed away in 2003 after being married for 49 years; she is also preceded in death by her sister Gloria Cowden.  Joyce is survived by her son Fenton Dee Phelps (Penny);  daughter Tammy Phelps; Brother Michael Cowden; sisters Ellen Rogers of Phoenix AZ; sisters-in-law Sarah Phelps, and Betty Brown (James); Grandchildren Dawn Dee Pastore (Donnie), Melissa Ridge (Harold), Joshua Phelps (Ashley); 8 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandson.  Visitation for Joyce will be held at DeBaun Funeral Homes Springhill Chapel on Thursday January 4. 2018 from 10-2 with services following at 2 p.m. Burial at Watson Cemetery will follow.  Pastor Terry Whitlock will be officiating.  The family would like to say a special thanks to Wyndmoor Senior Community for being so supportive.
