Obituary

John D. Wolf, 100, of Terre Haute passed away Tuesday May 26, 2026 in Gibson Family Hospice Center. He was born in Terre Haute, IN October 29th, 1925. He attended Fairbanks Elementary, Sarah Scott Junior High, and Wiley High School, graduating in 1944.

After graduating from Wiley, he joined the United States Army, where he served as a Private in Battery C, 590th Field Artillery Battalion, 106th Division during World War II as a Radio Operator. He was deployed with the Army for 3 and a half years. During his service, he received the following decorations: the American Theater Ribbon, the EAME Theater Ribbon with 2 Bronze Stars, the Good Conduct Ribbon, and the World War II Victory Medal.

After serving in the military, John returned to Terre Haute and attended Indiana State University for one year.

In 1952, he married Marian Brokaw, who precedes him in death.. Through this marriage, he acquired a stepson, Pat Enright (Bess). Together, John and Marian also had three children: Mary Walker (Jim), Lisa James (George), and John. Pat and Mary sadly have passed.

John came from a family of four sons and he was the third born. He has outlived all of his brothers: George, Robert, and Richard.

In 1965, John started his career at Indiana State University as the Operations Manager for the Hulman Center. He retired after working 33 years for ISU in 1988. Highlights from his time at ISU included working during Larry Bird’s era and managing the numerous concerts scheduled at the Hulman Center. Additionally, John served on the board for the Terre Haute Housing Authority for many years, contributing significant to his community.

John has three grandchildren: Pat Enright (Kim), Deede Latta (Scott), Marian Adams (Paul); six great-grandchildren: Jacob, Chelsea, Zachary, Makenna (Caleb), Christopher, and Morgan; and one great-great-granddaughter, Savannah.

Visitation will be Saturday May 30, 2026 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm in DeBaun Springhill Chapel with funeral services starting at 1:00 pm in the funeral home with Pastor Dennis Ticen officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. Online condolences may be left at www.debaunfuneralhomes.com
