John Robert Steward, 84, of Terre Haute, passed away Tuesday August 9, 2016 in Westminster Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was a retired Vice President for Indiana Gas and Chemical. John was born November 13, 1931 in Dahlgren, IL to Charles Merrill Steward and Hattie Mae (Finn) Steward. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Pauline (Lampton) Steward; sons, Brian Steward (Elizabeth) of Denver, CO and John Steward (Patricia) of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Austin Steward of Indianapolis, Amber Wellum of Marshall, IL, John Andrew Steward of Savannah, GA, and Sarah Kathryn Steward of Denver, CO and great grandchildren, Pierce Wellum and Jackson Wellum. He was preceded in death by a son, Steven Steward, a sister, Dora Mae Slavens and a brother Merrill Steward. John was a member of Maryland Community church and the Kiwanis Club and he was a US Army veteran serving during the Korean War. Visitation will be Friday August 12, 2016 from 5:00 until 7:00 pm in Maryland Community church with funeral services on Saturday August 13, 2016 at 2:00 pm in the church with Pastor Vince McFarland officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery. DeBaun Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
