John E. Sappington, Sr of Terre Haute passed away December 18, 2022, in his home. He was born July 21, 1932, to Samuel V. and Helen Sappington also of Terre Haute. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Michelle Sappington, brothers, Arthur Sappington of Terre Haute and Samuel V. Sappington III of California and one sister Amy Gordon also of Terre Haute, his children John E. Sappington II of Marshall, IL, Dollia M. Mickler of Indianapolis, David G. Sappington of Marshall, IL, Melissa D. Pagett and her husband Walter of Englewood, FL, Shannon L. Hagen and her husband Pete of Apple Valley, MN. Also 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Helen Brieger, Marjorie Matlock, Dorothy Allen, his brother Henry Sappington, and one daughter Suzanne A. Zellner of Longmont, CO.

He was a former supervisor of Bemis Bag for 33 years. He also served in the United States Air Force. He loved to collect antiques as his hobby. He also worked part time for Sappington Moving and Storage Co.

There will be a celebration of life next Spring/Summer of 2023.
