John Timothy Payne, 63, of Terre Haute, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 in Indianapolis, Indiana.  He was born to Paul Payne and Lola (Henico) Payne on October 31, 1962 in Terre Haute.  John married the love of his life, Vickie (Higgins) Payne on December 14, 1984 and they spent a wonderful 41 years together.

John worked as a laborer, contractor, and mechanic and enjoyed working on cars.  He was lovingly known by his grandchildren as "Papaw" and he loved teaching them to work on cars as well.  John loved key lime pie and coconut cake and watching conspiracy television and ghost shows.  Family was absolutely everything to him and he loved making people happy.  Sometimes, John would purposefully say things just to get a rise out of people.

John is preceded in death by both of his parents; son, Cory; sisters Sally and Donna.

John is survived by his loving wife, Vickie; son, Chris (Sarah); daughter, Jenny (Erik); brothers, Jerry (Micki) and Rick (Carol); sister, Becky (Chris); grandchildren, Dylan, Keifer, Calob, Gabe, Olivia, Callie; great-grandson, Christopher; and faithful pup companion, Daisy Mae.
