John L. Mahurin, 85, of Terre Haute passed away Thursday October 31, 2024 in his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was a retired Union Electrician with I.B.E.W. Local #725. John was born January 15, 1939 in Terre Haute to Harry Earl and Lucille Mahurin, He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Shelby (Strothcamp) Mahurin; daughters, Kim Cross (Laurence), Debbie Tichenor (Ray), and Paula Thrasher (Chuck); grandchildren, Corey and Leah Cross, Kelsie and Brad Stafford, Haley and Chris Williams, Bowman and Alicia Thrasher, McKayla Tichenor, and Taylor and Adam Prohaska; great-grandchildren, Sadie, Lily, James, Justin, Brianna, Brooklyn, Joshua, Eston, Dawson, Steele, Griff, Raylen, and Rosalyn; sisters, Judy Harmon and Barbara Glazier; brother, Don Salyards and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Mahurin; mother, Lucille Morris; sister, Wanda Dudley, and brother, Larry Salyards. John was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a long-time member of Pimento Community Church where he taught Sunday school and was a faithful servant of the Lord. He was a car enthusiast and enjoyed going to car shows. He loved to travel and was a meticulous woodworker. John was a hardworking person who loved his family dearly and loved learning about his family history. He was also a good friend who stayed in contact with many life-long friends. Visitation will be Wednesday November 6, 2024 from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm in DeBaun Springhill Chapel with funeral services starting at 2:00 pm in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mt.
