John Anthony Lynch, 68, of Terre Haute passed away at his residence February 27, 2015. He was born March 10, 1946 in Clearfield County, PA to John M. and Kathryn (Searcy) Lynch and they have preceded him in death. He was also preceded by his step-mother Patricia (Jefferies) Lynch and a sister Laura Lynch Carter. John was a dedicated family man, an avid Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs fan, and loved to play Santa Claus at the mall and at many other Christmas celebrations. He graduated from Brazil High School in 1964. He was a member and deacon at Oregon Baptist Church where he also participated in the choir. His other memberships included the Silent Men, American Legion Post 104 Sons of the American Legion, United Mine Workers of America District #11 where he was also past recording secretary, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1369, and was a cancer patient advocate volunteer at the UAP Clinic. He was retired from both Peabody Coal Universal Mine and Duke Energy Wabash Power station. His survivors include his faithful dog, Sharpie, his wife Julie (Morris) Lynch whom he married on July 3, 2005, two sons Jack Lynch (Heather) and Daniel Lynch (Lisa); two step-sons Scott McCoskey (Heather) and J.D. McCoskey (Samantha); a sister Patty A. Lynch Kirchner; two brothers Mike Lynch and Mark Lynch. His grandchildren are Corie Lynch, Connor John Lynch, Colton Lynch, Krystine Lynch, Kylee Lynch, Dylan Lynch, Alyssa Lynch, Alexis Lynch, Brayden Lynch, and Bentley Tapscott, Mia McCoskey, Malee McCoskey, Jevan McCoskey, Jude McCoskey, and Jillian McCoskey. His one great-grandchild at this time is Morgan Kennedy. There are several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be in DeBaun Springhill Chapel on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at 7 p.m. with Pastor Fred Harrison officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4 p.m. until service time. Cremation has been chosen. Online condolences may be made at www.debaunfuneralhomes.com. Contributions in his memory can be made to Oregon Baptist Church. A celebration of his life will also be held on March 15, 2015 at 2 p.m. in Oregon Baptist Church, 11200 S. Carlisle St, Terre Haute.
