Obituary

John L. Hickey, II, 64 of Terre Haute, passed away at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 in his residence. He was born in Clay County on January 10, 1950 to John Lester Hickey I and Hila O. McGinty Hickey Siner. John, being a man of very few words, was a dedicated family man who enjoyed playing golf in his spare time and loved all sports. He was a chemical operator for Eli Lilly Clinton Labs and was formerly employed at Peabody Coal Universal Mine for 18 years. John is survived by his wife Suzanne Klingler Hickey, whom he married August 20, 1972. He is also survived by his children, Bryce L. Hickey ( & wife Mary), and Brooke L. Hickey. He is also survived by his sister, Judi Courtney (& husband Darrel), as well as three grandchildren, Ava Cash, Wyatt Hickey and Waylon Hickey, mother-in-law Janice Klingler, and niece Mavery Quinn and family. Other survivors include his extended family and friends. John was preceded in death by his mother and father, and his step-father, Wilbur "Bib" Siner. A Celebration of his life is planned for Friday, July 11th from 4-7:00 PM in DeBaun Springhill Chapel. Private burial will take place at a later date in Maple Grove Cemetery in Clay City. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 5635 W. 96th Street, Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46278, in his memory.
