John Robert Grimes, 42, of Palestine, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2024.  He was born July 21, 1982, in Sullivan, Indiana to Brian R. Grimes and Nancy E. Pirtle.  John Robert was a man who loved deeply and loved everyone he had ever met.  He was the life of the party.  Always trying to make the ones around him laugh.  He loved being outdoors; hunting, fishing, and arrowhead hunting were a few of his favorite things to do.  In the last year of his life, he had reconnected with God and truly became a man of faith.  He had a lot of hope and many unfinished dreams.  May he rest in eternal peace.

John is preceded in death by paternal grandparents Arthur Grimes and Maisie Hayes Grimes.  He is survived by son John D. Grimes, daughters Mikayla Grimes and Destiny French, mother Nancy Pirtle, father Brian Grimes (Neely Scott) soulmate Alicia Sexton, maternal grandparents Danny Lee and Martha Faye Pirtle, sister Halee Grimes (Ryan Gettinger and their baby Kingston), brothers Billy Ray, Arty Lee, and Haden Grimes; many loving cousins, uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, and many dear friends.
