John Stephen Dinkel, 70, of Terre Haute, IN passed away August 18, 2016 at Terre Haute Regional Hospital. He was born August 26, 1945 in Terre Haute to John "Jack" and Patricia (Murphy) Dinkel. John formerly worked for Milwaukee Railroad, Worthington Packing Company, construction and retired from Hamilton Center in 2014. He was a veteran serving in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. John is survived by his wife of 47 years, Nancy Brown Dinkel, daughter Stephanie Dinkel McKay (Chad) of Terre Haute, step-son Scott Hamilton of Terre Haute, 2 grandchildren; Tyler Burke and Terrell Butler, 1 great-granddaughter Andrea Burke. He is also survived by his brothers; Bill Dinkel of FL, Joseph Dinkel of Terre Haute, 3 sisters; Patricia Wright of Rosedale, Mary Dinkel of Louisville, KY and Elizabeth Dinkel of Rosedale and several nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Andrea Dinkel who died in October 2008 and a brother Jim (Dinell) Dinkel John was known for his great sense of humor and wit. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-granddaughter. He also loved woodworking and stone working and loved music. Services for John will be held Sunday, Aug. 21, 2016 at 3 pm at DeBaun Springhill Chapel with family and friends sharing stories and memories. Visitation will be from noon-3 pm. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery.
