John D. "Dave" Nesbit, 72, of Farmersburg passed away Friday November 3, 2017 at 2:50 am in his residence. Dave retired after 25 years as a maintenance mechanic with Hoosier energy Power Plant. He was born August 27, 1945 in Vigo County to George Nesbit and Esther Leota (Borders) Nesbit. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Barbara (Lucas) Nesbit; a daughter, Heather Rettig (Don) of Greenwood; grandsons, Gavin and Braden Rettig; a brother, Charles Nesbit (Edith) of Anderson and several nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Carolyn Curtis, and brothers, Leon, Bob, Jack, and Don Nesbit. Dave was president of White River Field Trial club and loved raising English Pointer bird dogs. He was also a veteran of the US Army Reserves. Visitation will be Sunday November 5, 2017 from 1:00 until 3:00 pm in the chapel at Farmersburg Westlawn Cemetery with funeral services in the chapel at 3:00 pm with Jim Sparks officiating. Burial will follow in the cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that for those who desire, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Wabash Valley.
