Joe Latham, 79, of Cory passed away Wednesday August 2, 2017 at 5:57 am in Springhill Village. He was a farmer and previously a manager of the Grower's Co-Op. He had been a Junior High School math/agriculture teacher. Joe was born November 28, 1937 in Vigo County to Clifford Latham and Anna (Taggart) Latham. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary (McIntosh) Latham; a daughter, Lori Butts (Brian) of Marshall, IL; a son, Bill Latham (Gabriela) of Terre Haute; grandchildren, Keith Butts, and Joseph, Melanie, and Jackson Latham; a sister, Phyllis Niswender (Ivan); a brother, Don Latham; a close friend, Rick Rubeck and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Kay Seymour and a sister-in-law, Margie Latham. He was a graduate of Cory High School and Purdue University. Joe enjoyed being a farmer and working outdoors on the farm, he also loved being with his grandchildren and watching their activities, including soccer, baseball and watching the Lemon Brothers Band. He also liked attending ISU Women's Basketball games. Visitation will be Sunday August 6, 2017 from 4:00 until 8:00 pm in DeBaun Springhill Chapel with funeral services on Monday August 7, 2017 at 10:00 am in the funeral home. Burial will be in Van Cleve Cemetery in Cory. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of their choice.
