Joe E. Green, 80, of Terre Haute passed away Saturday March 7, 2015 at 7:20 pm in Terre Haute Regional Hospital, surrounded by his family.Joe and his family moved to Terre Haute in 1966. He worked at Chesty Foods until 1970 as a production manager, the he went to work at Graham Grain Company from 1970 until 1988 as Vice-President, after that he worked at ConAgra Inc. from 1988 until 1990 and then went to R.J. Oil Company Inc. as properties manager until his retirement. He was born March 3, 1935 in Wilson, AR to Jessie Martin Green and Thelma Louise (Whitehead) Green. Joe is survived by his wife of 59 years, Peggy (Strother) Green; a son, Timothy Joe Green of Terre Haute; daughters, Cynthia Ann Howard and husband Ron and grandson, Colfax Strother Cannaday of Syracuse, IN and Teresa Nicole Fischer and her husband Scott and granddaughter, Sarah Marie Fischer of Belchertown, MA; a sister, Carol Barksdale and her husband Wayne of Villages, FL; brothers, Jessie Willis Green and his wife Marlene of Southaven, MS and Lee Green and wife Marlene of Loxahatchee, FL. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Joshua Weldon Rodesiler; a sister, Thelma JoAnne Berretta and her husband Andrew, and a brother, Billy Charles Green and his wife Marie. He was a veteran of the US Army. Joe loved to work, he also enjoyed gardening, especially growing his giant tomatoes and garlic. He also enjoyed fishing and just being outdoors. Visitation will be Thursday March 12, 2015 from 4:00 until 8:00 pm in DeBaun Funeral Homes, Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Dr. with funeral services on Friday March 13, 2015 at 10:30 am in the funeral home Reverend Harold Throckmartin officiating. Burial will be in New Harmony Cemetery with military graveside honors.
