Joanne
Helton
April 27, 1937 – October 1, 2024
Elsie Joan (Joanne) Taylor Helton passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2024. She was born April 27, 1937, in South Bend, Indiana to Ameridith Taylor and Edith V. Jennings Taylor. Joanne worked at Packard Shirts, Quaker Maid, and was a cashier at Great Scott Grocery and Kroger Stores. She then went on to follow her dream of selling real estate. Joanne worked for Williams & Associates Real Estate Agency as well as Re/Max Real Estate. She also owned a laundromat in Rosedale and several rental properties in Terre Haute.
Joanne was a very skilled seamstress from making clothes for her three daughters to recovering and reupholstering furniture and custom draperies. Her true love was crocheting. She loved to create things as shown through all her hobbies. The one thing she was known for was her homemade pies. People would buy them for special events and holidays.
While living at Peddle Park, she loved to make special meals and share them with her neighbors. A special thanks you to Stan and Lana for being a friend and helping to make Peddle Park feel like home.
Joanne is survived by daughters Diana Lynn Randolph, Roberta Jean Merchant (Paul) and Karla Ann Woerner (Steve); grandchildren Brennan Randolph (Beth), Cliff Randolph (Libby), Ryan Randolph (Karen), Curt Gillespie (Aubrey), Julie Gillespie (Brian), Amy Woerner Smith, and Cori Woerner (Gauge), and 17 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ameridith Taylor, Edith Taylor Adams, stepfather Edsel Adams, infant daughter Cynthia Sue Helton, sister Dorothy Mae Taylor Marshall, and great grandson Jack Murray.
