Joann Aileen Zurcher, 96, of Terre Haute passed away peacefully Tuesday August 25, 2026 in Southwood Healthcare Center. She was a bookkeeper for Farm Bureau Co-Op for 15 years and Atterson Tires for 8 years. She was born September 23, 1929 in Clay City, Indiana to Peter and Verna (Thomas) Zurcher. Joann is survived by her daughter, Connie Jo Tiefel (Randy); son, Vernon L “Sonny” Zurcher, Jr. (Jennifer); grandchildren, Christy Murrell (David), Holly Zurcher (Kevin Stark), Heather Zurcher Ken Jenkins), Courtney Thomson (Ben), Sarah Krackenberger (Adam), Clayton Tiefel (Jessica Sampson), Jamey Zurcher-Miller (Mike), and Ash Zurcher and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon L. Zurcher who died in 2000; sons, Joseph Peter Zurcher who died in 1968 and Kent Allen Zurcher who died in 1996; sister, Laurena Tiefel and her husband Bill and brother, Leland Zurcher and his wife Marjorie. Joann was a life long member of First United Church of Christ in Clay City (now St. Peter’s Community Church) and a member of the Women’s Guild at the church. She was also a member of the Ever Welcome Home Economics Club. Joann enjoyed sewing and making quilts and she loved going on bus trips and going to flea markets with her husband Vernon. Visitation will be Wednesday September 2, 2026 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm in St. Peter’s Community Church, 6414 S CR 300 E, Clay City, IN with funeral services starting at 1:00 pm in the church with Bret Mishler officiating.
