Obituary

Joan (Duffer) Keegan, 83, of Terre Haute passed away peacefully at her home on May 12, 2015 following a brief illness. She was born in Sullivan County to Joseph and Joy (Vaughn) Duffer and they have preceded her in death. She was also preceded by her husband Bob Keegan and a longtime companion Richard Strain. Mrs. Keegan had done secretarial work for the government and DX Oil Company; she then drove a bus for the Vigo County School Corporation for 36years and was the recipient of the Driver of the Year Award. She was a member of Prairieton United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 328 Auxiliary, VFW 972 Auxiliary, member and Past Matron of Prairieton OES 163, Past president of Sullivan County Association Wabash Western Riders, and Wabash Valley Horseman's Association and was named Frontier Gal in 1999. She was also a past Girl Scout Leader. She is survived by her children Jane Holley and husband Don, Don Keegan and wife Olga, and Ron Keegan and his wife Beth; grandchildren Lindsay Higgins and husband Will, Tyler Keegan, Cole Holley, and Alaina Keegan; three step grandchildren Taylor, Luke, and Ian Bossung; and great-grandchildren Emma, Ben, and Elizabeth; sisters Patty Tarrh and Mary Morgan and husband Macon, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at DeBaun Springhill Chapel with Rev. Duane Caperton officiating. Calling is Friday from 4-8 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Saturday. Burial will be in New Harmony Cemetery. For those who choose memorial contributions can be made to the Prairieton United Methodist Church.
