Jesse William Lewis, 81, of Terre Haute passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at his home surrounded by family. He was born August 6, 1943, in Terre Haute to Jesse Edward Lewis and Eula Clair Williams Lewis. Jesse served his country in the United States Army. After leaving the service he attended Ivy Tech in Terre Haute. He worked as a millwright for many years and retired from Weston paper mill. Jesse loved cars. He drag raced and owned street rods. He and Joy enjoyed traveling, going to concerts and car shows. He was a Safety Inspector for the NSRA and past president of the Wabash Valley Rodders. Jesse was also a member of the American Legion 104. Most of all he was a treasured husband, father, brother, and grandfather.
Jesse is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years Alice "Joy" Lewis, sons Dale A. Lewis (Cindy) and William E. Lewis (Christy), daughters Glenda Whitecotton (Rick) and Jamie Miller (John), grandchildren Ashley, Christie, Brittany, Courtney, Jesse, and Dalton, 14 great grandchildren, brother Charles W. Lewis (Norma) and sister Betty R. Snyder, as well as many close friends from the car club. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Milton, Vera, James, and Florence.
Visitation will be held Monday, June 30, 2025, at DeBaun Springhill Chapel from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with service beginning at 4:00 p.m. Online condolences may be made to www.debaunfuneralhomes.com.
