Jesse E. Cantrell, 70, of Prairieton passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, May 9, 2023. He was born March 24, 1953 to Noah Cantrell and Linda Poer Cantrell. Jesse proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He was an avid New York Yankees fan, loved to go fishing, and was a member of the Wabash Valley Roadrunners Club. Jesse inspired many people to exercise and start running. For many years, he attended Methodist Temple and then he attended Farmer's Chapel. He lived to love Jesus. Jesse graduated from Indiana State University and worked in the accounting field. He obtained his CPA license and helped many people with their taxes and bookkeeping. Upon retiring from accounting, he was a substitute teacher in Vigo County for many years. Most of all, he was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His grandchildren brought him so much joy. He was truly proud of them, always supporting their activities and sporting events.
Jesse is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Jean Cantrell, his children Joe Cantrell (Lisa), Julie Brown (Tom), and Jeff Cantrell (Christina), grandchildren Caitlyn Cantrell, Grace Cantrell, Nora Cantrell, Trey Brown (Mishael), Peyton Brown, Colton Brown, Audrey Cantrell, and Parker Cantrell, great-granddaughter Sadie Brown, brother Ron Cantrell (Rhonda), sisters Sandra Railey, Rhonda Ramirez and Deborah Bustos (Joe), as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Saturday, May 13, 2023 at DeBaun Springhill Chapel from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Services will begin at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Steve Rundel will officiate. Burial will follow at Prairieton Cemetery. Military honors will be held at graveside. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in honor of Jesse to Wabash Valley Roadrunner's Scholarship Fund by mailing to Wabash Valley Road Runners, P.O. Box 9621,Terre Haute, IN 47808.
