Jeanne E. Davis, 88 of Columbus, IN and formerly of Terre Haute, passed away at 8:03 AM on Friday, November 27, 2015 at Pleasant Meadows Senior Living of Chrisman, IL. She was born in Indianapolis, IN on September 11, 1927 to Verne Arney and Bessie Moody Arney. Jeanne was a retired Switchboard Operator for the Terre Haute Tribune Star. She is survived by two sons; Paul Davis (Mickie), and Dan Davis (Gay), and also by three daughters; Joan Mingee (Mike), Kathy Davis-Shanks (Mike), and Paula Prechtel (Larry). In addition, she is survived by eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Jeanne was a member of St. Patrick and St. Bartholomew Catholic Churches, was a member of the Tribune Star Newspaper Guild, St. Patrick Parrish, Past Officer and member of St. Bartholomew Parrish. She was a gifted artist and took art classes at Indiana State University. She enjoyed her volunteer work at the Terre Haute Catholic Charities Christmas Store. She loved to travel, was an avid reader, and loved her family and family events. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Wilbur Davis, as well as her siblings; Russell Arney, Kenneth Arney, James Arney, Joseph Arney and Mary Arney. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at 11:30 am, Father Clem Davis and Deacon Bill Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church on Wednesday from 9:30 -11:30 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to either the Terre Haute Youth Ministry Fund or St. Bartholomew Parrish Building Fund, in her memory. Arrangements are under DeBaun Springhill Chapel.
