James A. Scroggins, 76, passed away Friday July 17. 2026 in Terre Haute. He was born August 22, 1949 in Decatur, Illinois to Cecil Ivan and Menervia Pauline (Thompson) Scroggins. James is survived by his sons, Cyle Scroggins, David Scroggins, and Justin Vermillion; daughters, Tanya Goodman and Connie Jo Scroggins; sister, Petsula Webb; brothers, Cecil Scroggins, Earl Scroggins, and Tommy Scroggins and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, James A. Scroggins II and daughters, Crystal O’Donnell and Amy Monett. James was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed watching Jeff Gordon and NASCAR racing and watching the Indianapolis Colts. He was a big-hearted man who loved his family and loved helping people. He also loved his dogs, J.J. and Mischa.
