James "Jim" Everett Kindred, 88 of Terre Haute, passed away at 10:50 am on Sunday, December 25, 2016 in Westminster Village. He was the last surviving child of 14 born to Charles Kindred and Edith Turner Kindred. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in WW II. He married Joyce Alumbaugh on December 20, 1945, and she preceded him in death 62 years later on March 6, 2008. He is survived by his children: Rosalyn Brownfield (Floyd), Avon, IN, James "Jim" Kindred (Linda), Gig Harbor, WA, Jennie Kindred (Don Mason), Terre Haute, and Rhonda Beck (Rick), Avon, IN. Also surviving are his grandchildren: Troy Brownfield (Becky), Avon, IN, Kristen Eckert (John), Ballard, WA, Jim Kindred, Gig Harbor, WA, Sarah Mason, Terre Haute, Austin Mason (Jessica), Terre Haute, and Quintin Meli (Demi), Mishawaka, IN, as well as 2 great grandchildren, Connor and Kyle Brownfield. Jim retired from Weston Paper in Management in 1991 after 45 years of service. He was forever known for his never ending smile, kindness, and gentle ways. Funeral services will be held at DeBaun Springhill Chapel on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow in Highland Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4:00 -8:00 pm on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 and again on Thursday prior to the funeral. The family would like to thank everyone for all their kindness and prayers shown during this difficult time.
